Wonderbox SD
San Diego-based Wonderbox is part of a creative vending movement. The vision for Wonderbox began in 2019 with maker, artist and designer Jenna Moore … and a OfferUp ad. Jenna has always had an uncanny knack for discovering bite-sized bursts of creativity in unexpected places, which led her to the idea of curating ‘micro galleries’ through vending machines. This bigger picture translated into tiny spaces beautifully, and was the genesis of Wonderbox. Sitting boldly at the intersection of artistic originality and on-demand convenience, Wonderbox is a locally-sourced, small-batch showcase of San Diego artisans and makers.

SCOPE & WORK
Local Artisans, Makers + Merchants
Nicknox joyfully collaborated with Wonderbox SD Founder Jenna Moore in all stages of this project. The scope included ideation around concept, naming and brand development. Once the premise of curated micro-galleries featuring local artisans, makers & merchants was established, the duo shifted their focus to branding. In this capacity, Nicknox offered brainstorming, benchmarking, creative input and guidance, helping to land the distinctive WonderboxSD look. Leaning next into content and message strategy, Nicknox brought a whimsical, story-telling tone to life and created copy supporting web and print pieces.
Web Presence
To support a successful launch, Wonderbox SD needed a thoughtful website that illuminated the concept, built credibility and seamlessly supported multiple audiences. Nicknox developed content strategy for the site and helped the brand shine with copywriting that cast a vision and resonated with audiences through a whimsical, storytelling tone that still effectively served the needs of multiple audiences.
Positioning & Content Strategy
As is often the case with out-of-the-box creative endeavors, the positioning of Wonderbox SD was unique in that it needed to illuminate a clear vision of physical experience of curated micro-galleries delivered through vending machines. In the launch phases of the project, this needed to happen concurrently with the creation of the vending platform, making it even more important to help readers visualize the Wonderbox experience. Throughout ideation and launch phase, Nicknox and Jenna planned forward to capture and introduce content that contextualized the vision and created excitement among artists, hosts and the general public.
Host Recruitment
Before the very first Wonderbox was created, Founder Jenna Moore was. networking to identify and connect with the types of gathering spaces that represented an ideal fit for these high-engagement micro-galleries. Nicknox created and cascaded brand-centric content that helped potential locations contextualize the ideal audience profile to assess match as well as evaluate the placement and visibility needed for a successful partnership that delighted their customers.
Artist Recruitment
Engaging local artisans, makers and merchants was the cornerstone of bringing the Wonderbox SD brand to life. Although the creative vending movement is gaining momentum, the concept of curated micro-galleries required vision-casting and guidance on the products, packaging, branding and pricing that would equip contributors for success.
